its good to be back

hi
sorry again for the lack of blogs
but ive been away
i spent a few days in blackpool
so i thought id post a poem i wrote whilst i was there

sin city
by sean gould

sin city is jam packed
almost every night
usually kicks off
with a violent cat fight

parties of drunks
constantly line the streets
smelling of alcohol
and the burgers they eat

drunken jack the lad
thinks he could get any girl he likes
but he gets out of hand
when hes told to take a hike

the average man
works hard from day to day
then takes his money to old sin city
and gambles it all away

theres lots of entertainment
singers dancers and if youre in a funny mood
there are lots of great comedians
but most of them are rude

there are special gentlemans clubs
where lots of ladies walk around
they will dance on your lap
and take their clothes off if you give them twenty pounds

im not into drugs
but some people are just hooked
there are lots right here in sin city
you only have to look

so take a look around
there is so much here to see
when you need a bit of fun
sin city is the place to be

ill leave you with this

ok
heres the thing
im going away for a few days
so this is my last blog until monday
so im gonna leave you with this poem

glory days
by sean gould

the glory days of willow the wisp
when you could taste the flavour on your crisp
when ponty pandy was proctected by fireman sam
and postman pat still had his big red van
when gary coleman was in different strokes
when people still laughed at jim davisons jokes

before jamie oliver was on the tv
the big celebrity chef was rusty lee
when saturday telly was jimmy cricket and little and large
when the england football team won games with bobby robson in charge
ghostbusters and goonies were the films of the day
and credit crunch were words we just didnt say

when danger mouse had penfold by his side
when prince charles took as his first bride
barrymore was the entertainment king
when telephones had only one ring
when pot noodles still tasted good
when a walt disney fox played robin hood

leslie crowther hosted stars in their eyes
when kingsize mars bars were really king size
the days before marathans were called snickers
when nora batty had wrinkled stockings and bog frilly knickers
and roy walker hosted catchphrase
oh yes my friends those were the glory days

whatever happened to..........bella emberg?

hello all
before i start
would like to apologise for the lack of blogs over the last week
lots of personal problems going on
and i was working nights
so im hoping to get back on track
saying that im going away for the weekend so there will be another small gap
ok then
in todays blog
another one in the whaever happened to series
whatever happened to bella emberg?
i remember her has that chubby woman on the russ abbot show
to be honest for a long time i thought she was dead
but shes not
so i consulted wikapedia
sadly theres not a lot on her
but this is what i found
Bella Emberg (born Sybil I. Dyke 16 September 1937 in Hove, Sussex, England, UK) is a British actress probably best known for her appearances on The Benny Hill Show and The Russ Abbot Show, where she notably played Blunderwoman. She has also appeared in Softly, Softly and Z Cars.
Her professional debut was in weekly repertory in Ryde, Isle of Wight — the summer season 1962.
Bella has featured in Doctor Who, BBC One's ever-popular science fiction series, a total of 3 times. In the 1970s, she had uncredited roles in the Third Doctor serials Doctor Who and the Silurians and The Time Warrior. More recently, in 2006, she was seen in the Tenth Doctor episode "Love & Monsters", where she played Mrs Croot. A second appearance as Mrs Croot was recorded for "The Runaway Bride" but cut before transmission.
i do remember seeing her in doctor who in 2006 shes lost a lot of weight
i tried to find the clip of it
but sadly i failed
but instead i will leave you with a classic clip of her and russ abbot

what ever happened to.........matthew corbett?

ok
i want to start a new regular segment on the blog
i wanna look up old celebrities from yestaryear and see what they are up to nowadays
so the first one i wanna look at is matthew corbett
i remember from the sooty show in the 80s
of course you dont hear of him now
so i hit the web to find out his whereabouts
this is what wikipedia has to say
Matthew Corbett (born 28 March 1948) in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, born Peter Graham Corbett, is an English television personality best known for The Sooty Show and latterly Sooty and Co.
He took over Sooty from his father Harry Corbett in 1976, and retired in 1998.
Corbett was born in Guiseley, West Riding of Yorkshire. In the late 1960s or early 1970s, he had to choose another stage name, as there was already another Peter Corbett registered. He kept his surname, but when choosing his new first name he was told it must be a name that is long, and so he chose the name of Matthew; for television purposes he has always remained as Matthew Corbett.
He appeared in the 1971 Doctor Who serial The Dæmons and was a regular performer in the Thames Television children's show Rainbow, where he sang and performed and wrote with Rod Burton and Jane Tucker as Rod, Matt and Jane, later better known as Rod, Jane and Freddy.
In 1976 Corbett left Rainbow to take over The Sooty Show from his father, Harry Corbett, on his retirement. He himself retired in 1998 after 22 years, and hand-picked Richard Cadell to replace him, and the show is still going strong.
Of late, Matthew Corbett has withdrawn from most public and media attention. The former Sooty Show presenter lives in Lymm with his wife Sallie. Back in 2005, he noted that he would be playing guitar with his friend John Gray around pubs in Manchester. For this, he has gone back to his real name Peter Corbett.
In January 2008, Corbett reappeared on television, presenting local interest programme shown on the Granada Television region of ITV, Locks and Quays, featuring a journey from the east coast of England to the west coast along waterways such as the River Humber, Aire and Calder Navigation and Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
On Sooty's 60th birthday in 2008, he said that the bear was "in, or should I say on, the right hands".[1]
well there u go
he joined a band
then made a show on canals
heres a clip

the magic of the squared circle

this poem is dedicated to the glory days of american wrestling

the magic of the squared circle
by sean gould

theres lots of sports i like to see
but wrestlings a favorate for me
ive been a big fan since i was a kid
since the days of papa shango and psycho sid
i remember when kevin nash was big daddy cool
and doink the clown was playing the fool

when jerry lawler was the king
and honky tonk man ready to sing
hulk hogan tearing his shirt
ravishing rick rude was an A grade flirt
macho man randy savage with elizabeth his bride
and the undertaker with paul bearer by his side

the ultimate warrior giving the ropes a shake
jake roberts always had his pet snake
i remember when bob holly was called sparky plug
and sargeant slaughter was a military thug
earthquake finishing his opponents with a big splash
the million dollar man was flashing the cash

rowdy roddy piper was wearing his kilt
big john stud was massively built
dusty rhoades was the amercian dream
legion of doom were my favorate tag team
king kong bundy and kamalla were large
andre the giant with bobby the brain in charge

i remember the birdman koko b ware
and the nature boy the one and only ric flair
bret the hitman hart always wore pink and black
and davey boy smith drapped in a union jack
hacksaw jim duggan waving his two by four
the rock raises his eyebrow and leaves the crowd begging for more

stone cold steve austin never showed fear
he just stood on the turbuckle drinking his beer
jimmy snuka flies through the air he was trully an amazer
the late owen hart was known as the blue blazer
but wrestling has changed since the days of terry funk
nowadays we have randy orton and c m punk

chris jericho is y2j
he has lots of things to say
shawn micheals has been the heartbreak kid for many a year
john cena makes the young girls cheer
triple h is the game
the hardy boys are just the same

bad boy edge is rated R
JBL arrives in a limo car
big show is very large
the great khali is the size of a barge
about wrestling i know everything
i love watching my heroes in the ring

as read at poetry wednesbury............its not all bad

another great poetry wednesbury meeting has passed
i the think the quality of poetry improves every month
i really enjoyed this months meeting
the group is full of good people
and i would once again like to thank bob for the lift home
cheers mate :)

heres one of the poems i read

this one was inspired by a conversation i heard in the queue in mcdonalds
it was between two youths and went a little somthing like this

youth 1; he robbed an old lady and stabbed someone innit
youth 2; yeah hes got a nice coat though

so i thought it would be a good idea for a poem

here it is

its not all bad
by sean gould

he brutally beat a jewish family
buring their house saying nazi quote
leaving them all for dead
yeah but hes got an amazing coat

he stole a car and went for a joyride
crashed leaving an elderly couple seriously hurt
he ran from the scene of the accident
yeah but he wears a very stylish shirt

he used to mug old ladies
frantically wielding a baseball bat
used to rob them of their pension
yeah but how cool is his hat?

she was involved in a drunken bar fight
leaving her victims a bloody mess
using a wkd bottle as a weapon
yeah but look out she fills out that dress

he robbed an off licence
taking all the ciggies and booze
selling them in local pubs
yeah but i love his shoes

shes known as a home wrecker
breaking up families without a care
then moves on to the next man
yeah but just look at her hair

he embessled money from his company
covering it up with bare faced lies
sending people to unemployment
yeah but hes got beautiful eyes

shes a convicted murderer
she killed her husband with a gun
she dosent feel an ounce of remorse
yeah but shes got a tidy little bum

a TAXing day

so today i made it my mission to sort my council tax out
even though i was at work
it took me 20 mintes to get through
then i was on hold for half an hour
so i forced to give up
so naturelly i was anxious and edgey
so i tried 2 ask my boss if i could leave work early
he said no
by this point i was fuming
sometime past and he finally agreed
so i went up the council house at 3pm
had an half hour wait
but was in and out after that
i explained that my mom paid to months intallments yestarday
and now im infront on my payments
so the helpful fellow cancelled my final notice
and i no long have to pay £320

the day from hell

ok
its very rare i have moan on the blog
but today im gonna do just that
my day has been what i can only decribe as shitty
it started as soon as i woke up
i recieved a text from a special lady(one i write a lot of my finest poetry about) she cancled our lunch date
cant say im suprised
oh well
then about five minutes later i spilled black ink over my beloved west bromwich albion duvet cover(which is going round the washing machine for the second time still not come out)
and the third and final blow....
i recieved a lovley little letter from the council tax department
saying because of late payments (which i struggle to pay anyway) there are canceling my monthly scheme and want £320 by wednesday
i aint got that money
theres a number you can call if you cant pay
so i will call them monday and see what happens
so needless to say i have not been in the best of moods today
hopfully everything will be fine
i worry too much

......and i only went to spend a penny

last week i spent a lot of time in birmingham
meeting various friends
inbetween meeting i took the oppertunity to walk around one of my favorate geek shops
but after 2 minutes of browsing i was hit with the might urge to go to the toilet
so i ran out the shop
ran over the road
to one of those new "pay as you go" toilet booths
so i inserted my 10p
TEN BLOODY PENCE
just to do as nature intended
so put my money in
nothin happens
then another 10p
the door opens
so i get in there
press the button to close the door
it closed
then opened
then closed
then opened
and so on
i was getting fed up with this
so i just left
i was sooooo desperate
so i went into a nearby bar
and toddled off to the loo
however
i heard a voice
EXCUSE ME
you cant use our toilet if you dont have a drink
so i went to the bar paid one pound for a coke
drank the fastest ive ever drank in my life
then i made it to the loo
ooooh heaven
it cost me £1.20p
i only went to spend a penny

a boyhood dream comes true

picture if you can
me
your very own romantic geek
as an hormonal fifthteen year old
im sure we have all been there
every one had there pin ups
that celebrity we spent our teenage years lusting over
well
mine was wwe female wrestler lita (real name any dumas)
she made me aware of the ladies as a spotty geeky lad
i dreamed of meeting her
well
last thursday
i did
oh yes
shes long since retired from wrestling
and now sings in a band called the luchagors
so me and a few mates went to check them out in brum last thurdsay
when see arrived on stage my jaw dropped
she was stunnig
and at the end of the show when she said she was gonna hang around 2 meet and geet afterwoulds
i nearly fainted
my chance to meet her
we shook hands
had our photo taken
i was way too awstruck to speak 2 her
speachless?
me?
thats a joke
oh well
i met her
next time i might even speak

DEATH MAGNETIC the final word.........i promise

ok its as they say the end of the road for the death magnetic blog
the good news is the album entered the charts at number one

as ive been counting down to the release of metallicas DEATH MAGNETIC ALBUM i thought i would write a track by track review of the album
ok so here what i think

1.THAT WAS JUST YOUR LIFEstarts of with a heartbeat effect and goes in to an almost creepy guitar lick then come the immense cruching riffs.
yes my friends METALLICA HAVE RETURNED!!!!!
then james step up with the vocals.
crunching verses
excellant chorus
alot like the song "motorbreath" from 1983s kill em all album
then halk throgh kirk delivers a bone cruncher of a solo
what a great start to a great album

2.THE END OF THE LINE
familiar intro
the intro was played on the bands 2006 tour as part of a song dubbed "the new song" which was a really good song
sadly the intro is the only thing that survived of the song which to be honest dosent really matter as this version is good anyway
the intro gives way into some seriously good guitar work and some mega crunching riff
NEED MORE AND MORE TAINTED MISERY james loudly sings
this song is to me instantly catchy
the guitars cruch all the way through
james voice is the strongest if heard in a long time
personally i really love the chorus on this song
YOUVE REACHED THE END OF THE LINE james sings with classic hetfield charm
a great crunch intrusmental break lights this song up
then theres a lovley bridge part james sing beautifully slow
utters the words "the slave becomes the master"
repeats harder and harder
great stuff
what way to end a great song
one of my favorates on the album

3. BROKEN BEATEN AND SCARRED
this one dosent beat around the bush
a great fusion of guitars riffs its great musical value
and once again james voice is on top form
the vocal melody of this is almost a bouncy feel
"you rise you fall youre down and you rise again"
it really rolls of the tongue if you ask me
its hard to listen to this without banging youre head
its crunches like a box of crisp under a stampede of rhinos
SHOW YOUR SCARS!!!

4.THE DAY NEVER COMES
of course this was the first single from the album
and what a single it it
its haunting guitar intro pulls you in
and the lovley licks that follow leave you there begging for more
then we get a lovley little solo
then james starts singing
this mans voice melts me
he could sing baba black sleep and the hairs on the back of my neck would still stand on end
this song was the perfect choice has everything you need for a perfect rock
serene guitars
piercing riffs
mad drums
soft vocals hard vocals
superb

5.ALL NIGHTMARE LONG
another one of my favorates
an almost mysterious intro
creates the air of mystery
but then it crunches into a pure feast of metal
this is old school metallica
LUCK
RUNS
OUT
growls james
then it kicks into one of finest heavy metal songs ive heard it a very long time

6.CYANIDE
another corker
robs bass really shines through on this track
its a good old sing along metallica song
excllent chrous
"suicide ive already died just the funeral ive been waiting for"
its a good old finger tapper
theres no question of the bands musical abillity
but this track turns it up a notch
then we have a fantastic bridge
where james asks
"say is that rain or are they tears?"
a total change of tempo
then business picks up again
kirk peels out a blinding solo
again back into the hard vocals
another piece of perfection

7. THE UNFORGIVEN III
third of the mighty trilogy
theres no question the first two unforgiven songs are pure metallica classics
the first which was featured on the bands 1991self titled fith album (known commonly as the black album) is a self pitying grind on a mans sorry existance
the second feautured on 1997s reload album was more of a tragic love song
but both started with an almost spaghetti western affect
and both cointain the line "what ive felt what ive known" in the chorus
so of course thats what we came to expect from the third offering
but man where we wrong
it starts with a purley melodic pinao and violin combo and the horns in the back ground slightly remanicant of the 1991 orignal
but thats where the similarites end
robs steps up to the plate and shows why hes one of the world greatest bass players
the the singing starts
catcthy
i love singing this song
its slighty moving but brilliant
then the chorus starts
"how can i be lost if ive got nowhere to go? search the seas of gold how come its got so cold?how can i be lost? in remberance i i relive how can i blame you when its me i cant forgive?"
fantastic
this song can only be called one thing
EPIC
half way through u here james bruding
forgive me
forgive me not
then kirk burts into possibly the greatest guitar solo of all time
the song ends as great as it started
in my eyes the best track on the album by far
but nothing like the first two unforgivens
its better if you ask me

8.THE JUDAS KISS
starts crunchingly
and crunches through boldy for over seven minutes
fast pace vocals
fast guitars
one blistering song
BOW DOWN AND SELL YOUR SOUL TO ME!!

9.SUICIDE AND REMDEMPTION
an instrumental
im not really big on intrumentals
i like a good sing along to be fair
but honestly its not a bad instrumental
it displays how talented the band are
but there was no question of that

10.MY APOCALYPSE
the final song makes sure the album ends with fire works
an old fashioned metal stomper
with shade of 1983s "whiplash "
and this is the song on the album that references DEATH MAGNETIC
posibly the hardest track on the alum
what a way to end it

in my eyes the album is amazing
best they have done in years
cant wait for next one

hes the most arogant little turd ive ever come across
hes smug
sarcastic
and just plain rude
the way he talks to people is vile
his gifriend came into the house he acted like a total bunny boiler
he brags thats he doest need the money
he owns 3 restruants
if hes so rich
why is he so desperate to win the prize money?
this man should not win

and who do i want to win?
i will tell you tomorrow

welcome to the promised land

ok its sunday
i like to post a poem on sunday
heres a new one
its about the state of the world to today
enjoy

welcome to the promised land
by sean gould

welcome to the promised land
where arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand
children in the bushes smoking weed
and one in five people face poverty and need
but the people in power just dont care
sitting with whiskey and cigars in their chair

the credit crunch is hitting us all
the world is heading for a financial fall
we take for granted everything that we buy
but now the prices are way too high
with this monitry presure its hard just to chill
when worrying how to pay every bill

thugs on the street make you scared to go out
with the fear of being attacked by a lout
anything valuble they will happily grab it
just to feed that nagging drug habbit
a night on the tiles isnt always a laugh
as it often ends in alcohol fuelled wrath

in every country its worse than before
as it seems the world is ready for war
ready to fight over some oil
killing each other and to the winner the spoil
and the great mister bush has to have his say
using the world as puppets just to do things his way

no jobs for the people who are willing to work hard
do anything to get their name on a clocking on card
many desperate to be on the payroll
as they have had enough of life on the dole
but some people it suits them just fine
spending their giros on ciggies and wine

struggling to survive the day to survive the day to day grind
looking for a better life that you never seem to find
some of us know we will never have a lot
and we must really accept what we have got
so life will never turn out the way that we planned
welcome to the promised land

as read at poetry wednesbury............never kissed a girl

tonight was another great poetry wednesbury meeting
great as always
heres a poem i read

never kissed a girl
by sean gould

dweebs and geeks
meet up in drobes
talking of lazer beems
and sonic probes

faces of spots
and breath of garlic
the only thing they ever groped
is a remote control dalek

no strangers to big words
they quote them all with passion
the only words they dont know
are street cred and fashion

sadly these guys
wouldnt know what to do with an erection
the only thing that exites them
is their comic book collection

most of these poor nerds
have never had a lover
some of them are forty five
and still live with their mother

some of them cant get a lady
because of their nerdy looks
the only thing they take to bed
are harry potter books

they are too obsessed with aliens
from another world
that is why these dorks
have never kissed a girl

i suppose im just like them
but in one way im unique
i guess im the worlds only
sexually aware geek

is this britains most obnoxious man?

this is minor celebrity iain lee
you may reconise him
then again you may not
but this man is the most self absorbed vile specimens my poor ears have ever had the misfortune to listen to
he presents a number of podcasts and radio shows
but he shouldnt be allowed on air
his attitude towards people is disgusting
he cuts callers off and calls them idiots
when they have done nothing wrong
theres lots of vile things this cretin says to people who listen to his show and put food on his table
people call him up to speak to him on is show and he just rubbishes them
like one time a young lady goes live on webcam to speak with him
he as the nerves to call this girl a "minger"
then he had an asian man on the fone
this a*sehole turn round and say that he probably smells as washing is against his religion
disgusting!!!
and im not the only one who thinks his actions are vulger
a few weeks back a lady called his show to confront him of hios attitude
he just made her look small
anyone who dosent agree with him he just cuts the phone line off on them and calls them an idiot
well
theres on one idiot here mr lee
and thats YOU!!!

killer quotes

i wanted to start this as regular segment.
but people say the funniest things
so i wanna post some quotes that make me chuckle

the first one was from big brother the other night

(best said in a geordie accent)

"12.15pm and the housemates are playing football with a ball made out of sanitary towels"

quite resourcefull

but the best one was one i heard one the way to the match on saturday

picture the scene

i just stepped off the tram
was walking behind a gang of lads who looked like they had been on the beer all day
the police was at the exit as always
one was a young girl
no much older than 20
one of those lads turned round and said

"if yo wor a copper od shag ya"

a poem by request

ok
so recently ive been doing a lot of poems for occasions
my little ten year old cousin was down here from newcastle
she read them and asked me to do one for her
so here it is

perris poem
by sean gould

little cousin perri
has come down to stay
i wouldnt say shes shy
infact she has a lot to say

when i walk in
she calls me lots of names
shes usually on the computer
playing sallys salon and other girlie games

she pulls lots of faces
that are very silly
she plays in the garden
with the dogs bonnie and billy

she helps auntie shona tidy up
and she works very well
then she will make cakes and biscuits
in the kitchen with michelle

then of a night time
she watches wrestling with uncle mark
then shes goes to sleep in her pink room
now that it is dark

shes been here for two whole weeks
and soon she will be gone
and i will think that ive gone deaf
when i walk into my moms

so heres to you perri
with your brother jack
this poem was wriiten by your cousin
the one you call fudge pack

doing my bit for THE pUBLIC

to be honest i have been a sceptic of the public building
however a few weeks ago i had the chance to see it for myself
i went to see a friend and fellow poet geoff stevens read his poetry there
to be honest i wasnt too impressed with the place
the didnt really organise geoffs gig very well
no mic
people speaking on phones
and kids running around
so all in all the place didnt impress me
but who knows it may grow on me
anyway........
everyone seems to be writing poems about the public
so i decided to have a go
however the only thing i could focus on is the fact that it was once a bus station

the old bus station
by sean gould

now west brom has a public gallery
the black countrys answer to the tate
i remember when it was a bus station
where i used to catch the 78

every week as a child
we would catch the bus there
whilst helping mom carry her shopping
out of the queens square

she would give me some money
to go and buy some cakes
whilst she went in preedies
for a packet of fakes

as you walk into the station
you would be hit by a smell
it is an odour
i remember very well

smells like that
you can never forget
a combination
of urine and sweat

inside the station
theres a variety of folk
a mixture of the black and the white
the rich and the broke

two old ladies gossip
until there hearts content
whilst a cider soaked man
sings a drunken lament

a waiting man
unwraps a toffee
and a resting bus driver
drinks a well earned coffee

a little old lady
struggles with her bags
whilst young teenagers
experiment with fags

of course the toilets
were the worst in west brom
but now like the station
there flattened and gone

now the public building
proudly stands there
the home of the artist
and the culturally aware

theres no staggering drunks
with bottles of booze
no smoking teenagers
and no dirty smelly loos

so why dont you come in
and take a look around
a little piece of culture
in west bromwich town

i dont know if hes meant to be there

(heres a clue look closley at the sombreo)

lets get sentimental

poor me
just done a days work with a terrible hangover
the reason of that hangover was my sisters engagement party
what a night!!
of course i wrote a poem for ocassion
and i read it out in front of the whole party
my biggest crowd yet

anyway heres the poem

engagement of my little sis
by sean gould

now im getting older
i really feel my age
im feeling bloody ancient
now my baby sister has got engaged

i remember when she has a friend called jamie
who no one else could see
now shes made a new friend
by the name of ste

it only seems five minutes
since she was a little girl
but now she has grown
into a beautiful woman of the world

now shes bending poor stes ear
and giving me a rest
but ste you are lucky man
and i wish you both the best

sometimes me and michelle dont get on
i can be mouthy and loud
but i love my little sister
she makes me very proud

so ste be nice to her
because with her you are stuck
so happy engagement to both of you
i wish you the best of luck

queen of the road

today im a very proud brother
my sister passed her driving test
i wrote a poem

the queen of the road
by sean gould

you have been trying hard to pass your test
i thought you might explode
and you have done it
and its time to hit the road

i know its been frustrating
these things always are
now you look a picture
sitting in your car

i remember when you rode round the block
on your little purple bike
but now you have a green car
and can go anywhere you like

you can go shopping
and buy yourself a frock
or you could drive to blackpool
but dont forget my rock

you will be driving daily
to your job at kfc
if theres any chicken left
bring some home for me

you must save some money
as petrol costs a load
so lets raise a glass
to michelle queen of the road

i know its been a long time ..... but here we go

hi there
sorry its been so long
ive just been so busy
been doing night shifts etc.....
and i had big things planned for this blog
however im back in the drivers seat and ready to blog once more
im gonna go try and make this a daily blog
got lots of lovley little segments planned
so watch this space
anyway enough the babble

lets get blogging ......
ok

it came to my attention recently that local old folks home had closed down
to be honest i was a little disturbed about this
i couldnt help but wonder where the residents have gone
so i left it to my imagination
and wrote a poem

noras ark
by sean gould

the local home
for folks that are old
the wise and heroic
the brave and the bold

but due to a facelift
in the nearby town
the time has come
for the place to close down

naturally the resident were upset
with dismay
these old troopers
didnt wanna move away

many of these people
had been there for many a year
then an old girl nora piped up
"hey guys i have an idea"

"if you want a better life"
"why dont you come with me"
"we should all build a boat"
"and sail off to sea"

they gathered round her
and they all agreed
and they started work
at a suprising speed

sid and bill
went to fetch some wood
and john with a dodgey hip
helped as best as he could

burt worked hard
with a hammer in his hands
whilst betty in her wheelchair
was holding all the plans

gilbert added windows
to let in the sun
ethal with arthritus
wasnt having much fun

norman put up a roof
to keep off the rain
whilst florance was shouting orders
from her zimmer frame

these pensioners worked their hardest
to get the boat ready
working at a pace
that was far from steady

they packed up and left
waved their carers farewell
the last ones to leave
were tom frank and nell

the boat stood there
the pride of the dock
the passengers arrived in their best
cardigans and floral frocks

they were glowing with excitment
their faces couldnt hide
the boat started the journey
as they waved goodbye with pride

they hadnt smiled this much in 80 years
i just just wish that you could see em
they are happy sunning it up
in the caribeen

noras idea worked out well
it was one that couldnt lose
she became the inventor
of the worlds first over 80s cruise

a bit of a serious one

hi
before i start this post just wanna do a bit of house keeping as the say.
pet sitting duties are over and im home.
i wouls also like to thank bob for his blog advice.
and hopefully the dates will work now.

anyway on to the blog.

im a little bit concerned.
the amount of knife crime on the streets.
but it really hit home last week when it happened only 5 minutes away from where i live .

so i wanted to do somthing.
so i wrote a little piece.
not based on anybody.
take a look.

an account of the parent of a murder victim

all people can do is ask me is how i feel.
well.
how do i feel?
how am i supposed to feel?
i only wish i knew.
it wasnt supposed to happen this way.
he was supposed to out live me.
i was supposed to grow old watching him become a man.
meeting a nice girl.
getting married.
having children.
he will never do any of this now.
nineteen.
just nineteen.
he was only nineteen years old.
no boy is meant to die at the age of nineteen.
he saw a girl in touble.
an abusive boyfriend.
he couldnt just stand there and watch.
could you?
he tried to help her.
then the so called "man" pulled out a knife.
he was only twenty one himself.
what right did he have to take my sons life?
nothing more than a child himself.
why did he even have a knife?
why?
what is this world coming to?
does everyone carry a knife now?
my son didnt.
now hes dead.
my little boy.
in my eyes he died a hero.
he will always be with me.
everywhere i go his picture will go with me.
i will never forget him.
my boy.
my son.
my hero.

away from home

hello again
im writing this blog from a different location.
as for the next week im on house sitting duty.
im at my parents house whilst they take a well earned break.
so im in charge of dogs fish plants and pigeons for the next week.
the plan was to just relax on the patio and top up my tan.
but look at the weather.
hope it gets better.
on a plus side they left plenty of food and drink.
ive done nothing but eat and drink since i got here.
gawd help me.
:)

pet patrol

hey there
im now half way through my week of house sitting duties.
things are going quite well.
the animals are behaving theirselves.
except for when billy tore is bed apart.
oh well.
and we saw a bit of sun yestarday.
oh joy.
i hope the summer shows its face before i go back to work.
im starting to miss my own bed.
my matress on the floor is not the same as my lovley double be.

ok i better go.
i havnt fed the dogs yet.
take care.
ill post soon.
and i leave you with a poem i wrote.
pet patrol
by sean gould
im on pet patrol duties
and im too tired to even talk
i have to get up at 5:30
to take billy for a walk

on the field he chases other dogs
hes looking for a fight
so i try and restrain him
hold him back wiith all my might

bonnie is pyning badly
shes really in a mood
she only leaves her basket
when she eats her food

watering the flowers
is a job i cannot bare
but the weather is so lousy
so mother nature is taking care

and to feed the pigeons
i have to climb a ladder
but being scared of heights
it does things to my bladder

i also look after the fish in the pond
give them something to munch
and i have to protect themw
hen the heron comes for lunch

so this house sitting lark
im starting to get the knack
but its me who will need a holiday
when they all come back

memories of her

i havent got what you might call a photographic memory.
to be honest i couldnt even tell you what i had for breakfast this morning.
im the kind of person who would go to a football match on a saturday afternoon and will have forgotten the score by the time i got home.
but there are some things i can remember very clearly.
everything about her.
i remember fancying her from a far for almost a year.
even though i never knew her properly.
i remember how long it took me to convince her to come out with me.
and i remember jumping for joy when she finally agreed.
and that tram ride on the way to our first meeting will stick in my mind forever.
my heart pounding like the ghost of john bonham was doing a drum solo inside of me.
and then i got off the tram.
i saw her.
she was standing there with bright red hair and a bright red coat to match.
then she smiled at me.
it was the most beautiful smile i have ever seen.
my heart melted like an ice lolly on an hot august afternoon.
from that moment i was addicted.
she was my drug.
then she spoke.
one simple word.
one beautiful word.
hello.
just hello.
her voice was like the most beautiful song i ever heard.
it was like hearing your all your favorate singers together on one big beautiful stage singing all of your favorate songs at once.
as we walked through wolverhampton on a wet winter saturday afternoon it felt like summer in my heart.
i remember that first coffee we had together.
we had the most amazing chat.
we hit it off perfectly.
it was like we had known each other forever.
she was like every friend ive ever had rolled into one.
that day was perfect.
if you were to look up the phrase"perfect first date" this would be it,
i remember saying our goodbyes.
i did want to say goodbye.
as her bus pulled up she presented me with a painting she did for me.
it was inspired by one of my poems
that gesture meant te world to me.
that painting still remains one of my most treasured posessions.
i remember her bus pulling away.
as i waved her off i had four words in my head.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN.
all the way home it rained.
i didnt care.
the tram was late.
i didnt care.
i recieved a text message saying my football team had lost.
i didnt care.
i felt like a winner.
so i just didnt care.
nothing could of brought me down.
i remember getting off the tram.
walking along the canal.
as i walked.
i couldnt help myself.
i just had to do it.
i just stood there opened up my arms and shouted.
IM SEAN GOULD AND IM THE HAPPIEST MAN IN THE WORLD!
fortunatley i was only heard by a rather confused looking mallard.
from that day i was smitten.
i wrote some of my best poetry.
all inspired by her.
she was my muse.
from there on it was great.
we texted each other hourly.
every time we met i thought i was in heaven.
i remember valentines day.
i had an annonymus card.
i knew it was from her.
i compared the writing to all the letters and cards she had sent to me before.
which i happily treasured.
and when my suspicions were confirmed of course i was delighted.
sadly i was working valentines night.
but the following saturday.
we made up for it.
she made the best meal i have ever tasted.
they say the way to a mans eart is through his stomach.
this would of been true.
but she had already won my heart.
after the meal.
i felt like a king.
with my red haired queen sitting next to me.
i remember that night with a tear in my eye.
it was the happiest i have ever been.
all those silly things we did over the following months.
i remember evrything so fondley.
silly little things.
just lying on the bed doing a wordsearch.
sweet little things like that make me smile.
the way she would play around with my science fiction colectable figures.
i would of killed anyone one else for doing the same.
but not her.
she could of gotten away with anything.
those little things we did.
shopping was fun.
we would go our own way in hmv.
and then at the chckout how we would laugh when we both brought the same dvd.
or how she would laugh when i was too embarassed to buy underpants infrot of her but she freely brought knickers with me by her side and i couldnt help picturing in her them.
and i couldnt stop laughing when she showed me her bra in a pub.
she was somthing else.
i loved every moment with her.
there was this one afternoon we made these great big chocolate deserts but we couldnt finish them as they were so sickley.
afterwards we sat watching bad comedy movies from our childhood.
and one of the best nights out i ever had was going to this really classy restruant with her.
and how she laughed at the fact i had never hd an irish coffee.
that coffee warmed my stomach.
she warmed my heart.
but not for much longer.
that night was one of the last times i ever saw her.
im not exactly sure what happened between us.
but i guess the bubbles in the champaigne go flat sooner or later.
but im just glad i got to feel the fizz of those bubbles for a short time.
i cant remember many things.
but i remember her.
how can i forget her?
i see girls i think are her all the time.
theres a word in every sentence that reminds me of her.
every song i hear.
i find something i can relate to her.
i still have the cards and letters she sent.
i look at the painting she gave me every day.
i still have her picture on my mobile phone.
we still occaisionally text each other.
as friends.
my heart still pounds every time we speak.
i remember her.
i remember how she made me feel.
i remember how it hurt when she said those three words.
lets be friends.
but i still remember her.
why would i want to forget her?

lost in translation

hi there
i just wanted to share a new poem that i wrote today.
ill explain the story behind it.
theres this new eastern european girl started at my work.
shes very beautiful and i have been admiring her from a far.
anyways she cant speak a word of english but ive been trying my charm.
and tuesday she walks up to me and places her mobile on piece of paper in my hand.
however this is not an english number so i cant use this number without a certain code but there really isnt any point as neither one of us speaks the others language so its gone down hill from there on.
so it fell at the first hurdle.
oh well.
anyway heres the poem .
enjoy:)

whats a poor boy
to do?
when he doesnt
have the same mother tongue as you

you are such a catch
you really look so fine
but you speak in a language
that just isnt mine

you dont understand
anything you are told
even your mobile number
has a foreign dialing code

i try to be nice
and you think im being rude
all the lovley words i say
seem to get you in a mood

at times i think i upset you
but not sure if i do
because you dont understand
when i try to ask you

im looking for little signals
but theres nothing i can find
to be honest i have enough trouble

my first blog

hi there.
i would like to welcome you to my very first blog.
this one is just a short one to say hi and to tell you all what to expect.
ive been reading the blog of friend and fellow poet bob and thought id have a go and do a blog myself.
i will try and post a blog at least twice a week and i will be writing just general observations and as im a poet i will post the odd poem.
which leads me nicely to a little poem i thought i would end this blog with.
its one i have just jotted down .
its about posting my first blog and not knowing what to write.
so enjoy and i will post a brand new blog in the next few days.

the burdens of bloggdom
by sean gould

my first ever blog
no idea what to write
shall i write funny words and clever stuff
to give you all delight

shall i tell you about my life
to help you pass your time
shall i put down my feelings
and turn them into rhyme

so what to put in this little blog
i havnt got a clue
but whatever that i provide
i do it just for you
